Bronn Wenneli from Torr Garow - Support use of Cornish place names in Kernewek

Cornish Place Names in Kernewek (Phase One)

Cornish place names in Kernewek is a project to encouraging greater use of these place names. These will vary from names of towns and villages to places throughout Cornwall and ancient monuments and sites of interest. Hopefully people will learn something more about Cornish place names through the audio and links.

A poster will be available to download with the place names in Kernewek and English and there will be an audio link to each of the Cornish place names to help with pronunciation.

We hope this will be of benefit to people who are interested in Cornwall’s historic and cultural heritage and that more people will refer to places using the Cornish language name in everyday life.

Phase One of Cornish place names covered a three month period and was promoted in the Voice newspaper during 2021. This phase is being updated to make the QR codes more readable by modern devices and promoted through the Voice, Cornish Times and Cornish & Devon Post newspapers.

Phase Two of Cornish Place Names is being produced at the moment and this will be shared in the newspapers and online following the republication of the revised phase one place names project.
